send me a e-mail message : I have started up and looked at the BIOS, (The word Bios isn't shown it says SET UP) NOT once ANYWHERE does it mention USB it shows Drives, System start up , power options but NO USB. No it has not been updated recently. I d/l Bios Agent and here is the info from it:
: Program: Unicore BIOS Wizard Version 1.5
: Program: Unicore Chip Detect v0.72 2000.03.10
: BIOS Date: 01/01/99
: BIOS Type: Acer
: BIOS ID: ACRA8000-S03-990809-R03-C0 EN
: Chipset: SiS 620 rev 2
: Superio: ITE 8661/SiS 6801 rev 6 found at port 279h
: I dont know where to look for the BIOS, I want to ACERS site and i could not find it.
: Also I have USB speakers and they work in the other slots (but I dont see them in the Device Manger)
: The host manager is "SiS 7001 PCI to USB open host controller"
: Below That there is a USB Root Hub, which the keyboard and the "unknown device" (camera) are connected to.
: As I mentioned before there does not seem or does it show any IRQ conflicts
: : Hmm...yes, actually. Have you peeked around in BIOS setup? Look for USB, USB Keyboard and Legacy keyboard there. Enable them all.
: : Have you updated the BIOS recently? You should.
: : Tell me...what brand/model of USB host controller appears in Device Manager?
: : Bill
: :
: : : Does it make sense that all three of the other ports do not work? And the keyboard not working in any of the other USB ports, have you ever heard of that?
: :
: : :
: : : : Sounds like a defective port. That's not too unusual.
: : : : The only thing you can do is install a PCI USB adapter card:
: : : : http://www.usbman.com/Guides/Upgrade%20Card%20Manufacturers.htm
: : : : You could try a hub, but most cams don't like hubs. I would get a 4-port card if I were you.
: : : : Bill
: : : : : I have an ACER ASPIRE computer 6360S. Running Win 98SE.
: : : : : I have instaled the camera connection software and upgrade everything, but the USB camera will not show up properly on the computer. In the device manager it shows up as "Unknown Device" With an "!" next to it. I have tried updating its driver several times, but the only driver I see on the software that came fom Kodak is the one already installed. Kodak does not seem to let you downlod just the individual driver, it makes you download the Software as a package.
: : : : : In device manager It says "Device isn't responding to it's driver" Error code 33.
: : : : : BUT here is the weird thing, I have 4 USB ports, the keyboard is plugged into the first one, when I plug the camra into that one IT WORKS, but there is no keyboard, and the keyboard will only work if it is plugged into the first USB port.
: : : : : Why would it work in one port and not any of the others????
