my system is running under windows xp, i have 2 usb devices, a hp printer and a hp scanjet 4400c. and the problem is ...

2 days ago, when i started my computer the whole system stopped during the first seconds of bios. no keyboard no nothing worked anymore. then i found out when i pull out the powercable of my scanner it continues booting and goes on till windows is up. no more problems. then i plug in my scanner and everything works out. but when i turn off and start again, the same problem as before. my bios hangs totally, till i plug out my scanner....

please help i have no idea what could be wrong. i´m not quite sure but i think my system is not damaged, because the usb works perfekt for my printer.
