Subject:   USB hub causes extended boot times in XP

Message Posted

I added a Dlink 4 port USB 1.1 hub to my system. My USB controller is a Maxtor USB 2 add-in card (to replace the lousy unreliable VIA onboard controller). For some reason with the USB hib connected XP takes longer to boot, about 10 seconds. Any ideas? I do notice that one of the last things to occur before I get the Windows Welcome screen is the four link light son the hub light up.

Is this a normal occurance with a hub or should I buy a different manufacturers hub?

Can't tell you if it worked better with the original VIA 1.1 controller as I had so much trouble with the VIA that I disabled it before I bought the DLink hub.

Thoughts?
