Thanks for the reply. I have 5 USB devices and my Maxtor card has 5 ports (4 external, 1 internal). I only have USB 1.1 devices on the DLink hub. Right now I have NO USB 2 devices. I decided to get a USB 2 card since I had to upgrade from the Via junk and figured USB 2 would also fix whatever remaining USB 1.1 issues there were....So far so good, all USB 1.1 devices work fine on the Maxtor. More than I can say for the Via.Anyway, did further research into my problem. Its NOT the hub as I originally thought. With even one device connected to the Maxtor USB 2 card I get the 10 second delay. With no devices connected it boots faster.I have the Win XP drivers loaded from WIndows update, I did NOT install the drivers that came on the floppy Maxtor provided. Maxtor claims the drivers work in XP as well. I figured safer to go with the MS drivers. Could they be responsible for the long delay?Anyone else with a USB 2 card experiencing delays when booting??By the way my motherbaord is an Abit KT7-RAID. Latest BIOS. I followed all the tricks listed on the FAQ to maximize performance. I have no other real problems with the system.ThanksScottI did : I added a Dlink 4 port USB 1.1 hub to my system. My USB controller is a Maxtor USB 2 add-in card (to replace the lousy unreliable VIA onboard controller). For some reason with the USB hib connected XP takes longer to boot, about 10 seconds. Any ideas? I do notice that one of the last things to occur before I get the Windows Welcome screen is the four link light son the hub light up.: Is this a normal occurance with a hub or should I buy a different manufacturers hub?: Can't tell you if it worked better with the original VIA 1.1 controller as I had so much trouble with the VIA that I disabled it before I bought the DLink hub.: Thoughts?
