Anyone see this little press release from NEC? It seems that the first generations USB 2.0 add-in cards and motherboard controllers are all based on the beta 0.95 specification (basically an unfinished spec).NEC is readying a new version of the host controller that fully complies with the USB 2.0 V1.0 specification. It offers up to 20% improved bandwidth due to the addition of high speed synchronous IO. Its also a low power device so should have a chance of being integrated into notebooks and othe rportable devices.
Read the release, here's the link.
