I have heard conflicting information about IRQ conflicts where USB is concerned. I have heard that Windows 9x and beyond was written in a manor that allows devices to share IRQs, including USB.

I have a Windows 2000 Pro computer and many devices share an irq and they all work seemingly fine including USB. I have an Intel BA-BAM USB Chipset.

What is the answer? Are IRQ conflicts real or is it just an excuse tech. support people use when they don't really know the answer?

And..

Is my question nieve? Perhaps it just isn't as simple as a yes or no answer. Is it a chipset related issue? Is it an OS related issue? Is it an issue around which devices are sharing an irq with USB?
