Is there a max distance a USB cable can run between a Compter and a Device ?

I have a The ZoomCam USB - Im using it for a
security camera. The distance between my Computer and the camera is 30ft ? I can only find USB cable no longer then 15ft - is this for a reason ? Where can I have custom sizes (above 15 ft) made if size is not a issue?
