I recently bought a usb 2.0 hard drive enclosure and a HD to go in it. The device seems to work perfectly.

My problem is this; I use the USB HD connected to a desktop PC with a USB2 card during the day but often when the desktop is switched off at night I like to disconnect the hardrive and connect it to a laptop (by usb 1.1). This setup works but I would like to know if there is any way of automating the switch over.

I have seen manual usb switches but I assume these would be only a partial solution since the hard drive needs to be disabled by using 'Unplug or eject Hardware'. Is there anyway for the whole process to be done automatically?

Both computers are running windows 2000 sp2.
