What automated process can replug a cable? None. I do not recommend having this drive connected to both PCs simultaneously.

There are currently no USB 2.0 switches that I'm aware of.

What I would do is leave the desktop on (unless it's a noisy Athlon!) and share the drive over a Ethernet connection.

: I recently bought a usb 2.0 hard drive enclosure and a HD to go in it. The device seems to work perfectly.

: My problem is this; I use the USB HD connected to a desktop PC with a USB2 card during the day but often when the desktop is switched off at night I like to disconnect the hardrive and connect it to a laptop (by usb 1.1). This setup works but I would like to know if there is any way of automating the switch over.

: I have seen manual usb switches but I assume these would be only a partial solution since the hard drive needs to be disabled by using 'Unplug or eject Hardware'. Is there anyway for the whole process to be done automatically?

: Both computers are running windows 2000 sp2.

: Thanks in advance.

: Luke
