: Hi Bill.......I found the relevent folder but Im not sure which part to delete.There is a huge amount of sub folders involved here. Im very reluctant to delete all of them in case I stuff up my os. Could you give me a step by step instruction of what I actually need to delete. It would be greatly appreciated.

: : It's quite possible that the USB subsystem is shorted out. You can always install a USB 2.0 card if you like because the BIOS supports it. CompUSA has a goos selection of USB 2.0 cards. I'm currently using a SIIG 5-port model which cost only $39. You will need Win98SE for USB 2.0 though. Otherwise, pick up a Quadrabus-type 1.1 card. CompUSA has these as well - one of them is their house brand.

: : You could try reinstalling Windows *with all USB devices disconnected* and see if it helps. The operating system may be corrupt. My favorite trick is to delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ENUM key, boot to BIOS setup and enable USB. Restart and all hardware will be redetected. Hopefully, that will help.

It tells me that my os supports usb but my system hardware doesnt. This supprises me as my motherboard does support usb (according to the manual). : : : : : I have a gygabyte ga-586sg motherboard with an award bios chip that i recently flashed (even though usb was enabled on the old version).
