Thanks for your reply, i bought a pcmcia card (IOGEAR) it should work?

Thanks again, you've been a great help :O)

: Actually, that looks really healthy. I would assume that the drive requires more power than the laptop can provide. This is not unusual. That is why (thanks Jeff) USB 2.0 adapters have a separate power supply.

: Another possibility is that the drive cannot be on a hub. It needs to be on the laptop port. If you're using a hub, bypass it.

: I would suggest a USB 2.0 Cardbus adapter. Adaptec, Belkin and Siig offer them.

: : Alright, i bought this external drive for my computer and its a USB 2 device. The port on my laptop is the older version USB port so it wont run as fast, but since the drive enclosure is backwards compadiable it should function properly. I dont know what to do. I plug my drive in, it recognizes the drive, installs the drivers, and it functions. Problem comes in when i try to access data. I click on the drive, and 90% of the time it will lock my system. If not i can browse the drive for a little while, but its very unstable, constant little lockups you have to wait to re stabalize......

: : Thanks for your help in advance
