Most USB devices do not work well on a hub. For port expansion, you are better off with a PCI USB adapter card. I think that you're overtaxing the USB bus. Look here:

Remove the hub and put the mouse and cradle on the PC USB ports. If the problem is resolved, you need a USB adapter card.
