Upgrading from one OS to another sometimes carries unforseen problems with it. The upgrade is probably still using the Win98 drivers for the USB card. A clean install is best - with the added Cardbus controller removed. As a matter of fact, try upgrading again with the USB card removed. Install it after the upgrade and load the drivers from the disk.
If you fail and have room on your drive, install WinXP and choose "New Install". You will then have a dual-boot laptop. Try out XP with the drive and adapter. If it works, we'll keep that setup and delete the Win98 OS.

: I have purchased a new usb2.0 Hard Drive enclosure( ME-320) and a usb2.0 cardbus PC card recently. I try to install on windows XP system, but it won't work. First time when I try to use the external HD. It hang and then gives me a blue screen with some error message then restart my Laptop. I reinstall XP at least ten times but still the same thing. Then I recover my system to windows 98se. It works fine. I found that in 98se system have detected a hard dirve controller name"Storage bridge module" and "USB storage adapter ..TPP"..but it doesn't show up on XP ...I don't know is that the reason it won't works. Please help. Thanks.
