I have an Intel QX3 microscope that used to work fine with an HP Pavilion 6535 computer. Now, if the USB cable from the QX3 connected the computer will not boot (it hangs at the HP splash screen). However, if I disconnect the cable and turn on the computer it boots fine. After booting I can plug in the QX3 and it works fine.
Any ideas why having the USB connector plugged in would hang the computer during boot?
The QX3 works fine on two other similar computers. And other USB devices work fine on this particular HP computer. Plus, I've tried this using the USB on the back of the computer and using a powered USB hub. Same result.
I've spent a bunch of time talking to HP and Intel customer service personnel. They didn't have many ideas and none of them worked.
Help!
And thanks!
