Thank you for your response.
I am a bit confused, though. We need to plug in 5 repeaters in serie, to get the fingerprint scanner 25m from the PC. Do you mean that we plug in less repeaters in a string, or that we use the 4-port card to get Windows to better tell each string apart from one another?
: Windows is probably having trouble telling one repeater from another because they are identical. Rather than trying to find a slightly different repeater, try separating the repeaters by installing and using another USB controller:
: Any of the above would be fine. Each has four individual controllers onboard and Windows should have an easier time enumerating each repeater. These cards cost about $30US.
: : We are a biometric comapany in South Africa, and we use the BAFO active USB repeaters in installations. Lately, the repeaters seem to malfunction. If we plug 5 repeaters into the PC, 9 times out of 10 the 5th repeater does not seem to start. The error message given is that the device cannot start because the drivers are incorrect. (We use Win2K Pro) If we plug that same repeater 4th in the string it works. If we then plug the 4th repeater (the one that worked fine to begin with) 5th in the string, it gives the same message. Sometimes the repeaters will work fine for a day, and then one will stop working. We then replace that repeater, and the string works fine again. If we plug the repeater that malfunctioned into the PC on it's own, it works fine again.
: : Any help will be greatly appreciated
