I am trying to hook up an external

diamond max 80 gig harddrive enclosed in a "New Motion" 3.5 enclosure. I run windows 2000 and am having a hard time running it through the USB port. The USB ports do work because I have my cable modem which I have tested in both ports and works just fine. When I plug in the external harddrive, I get that yellow and black exclamation mark. Sometimes I get a code 10 message also. If anyone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it. The driver that I got from the manufacturer is not being recognized. If you need more information, I will provide it but I am not at home right now and just discovered this website, which I must confess I have been on the whole night instead of working. It is very very helpful. And at the risk of sounding stupid, I have never played with bios before or IRCs and am really hesitant to do this because I can picture myself really screwing up my system just to fix this problem. But if I have to, of course I will. So please have patience with me...
