My problem is similar to the one Denise posted on 5/12: I have two USB ports on the back of my computer (running Windows 98 w/plenty of space), but neither are in service. I installed the driver for a Smartcard (digital camera) reader, but when I plug the cable in, the green power light on the reader flickers for a very brief second as its getting plugged in, then the light goes out. In my "device manager", there is nothing for the USB ports under either "Universal Serial Bus" or "Other devices". My computer doesn't seem to be recognizing their existence. What is the fix for this only semi-computer literate person who really wants to start downloading my new digital pictures? Am I in the same boat as Denise? Thanks a ton. You guys are great.
