Neither really. Both will take you over the 15ft max. The best would be a short 6' USB 2.0 cable and an active extension for the remainder. The scanner will choke on a hub/repeater, so that's out.

: I am hooking up a Brother MFC 6800 all-in-one machine to my computer via USB. I have a 16' Belkin USB2 cable that is too short for my installation. I can purchase a 2m active extension cable which when combined with my 16' cable will get me where I need to be (this extension cable is only USB 1.1, but I'm not sure if my device and controller are 2.0 anyway). I have also seen an outfit in Canada called mycableshop.com which carries 25' USB2 cables. Which option is less likely to cause problems, the 16' USB2 cable with a 6' USB1.1 active extension, or the 25' USB2 cable by itself? Thx.
