The controller types are:
Intel 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2442
Intel 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2444
: Is this onboard USB or a PCI/USB 2.0 card?
: If onboard what host controller type is showing in the Device manager?

: : : : Ok, I am running Windows XP Home with 4 USB 2.0 ports. My problem is that it lists 2 USB controllers and 2 USB Hubs in the Device Manager but also 1 Unknown Device. No matter what USB device I connect to the computer, it detects an "Unknown Device." I tried everything that Dell tech support suggested and finally I formatted and reinstalled Windows XP but the same thing happened. The only thing I could think of was that the system was attached to a cable line that was struck by lightning and it did something to the hardware. However, again - 2 USB controllers and 2 USB hubs show up in the device manager and it doesn't matter which of the 4 ports I use. I am one setp away of replacing the motherboard which I really don't want to do since Dell won't cover it as they claim it was caused by an "Act of God." The computer is just a couple weeks old. Any suggestions?
