My question was did you plug the HP directly into the PC?

: Frist thing I am on Windows 98 SE

: Now the all in one printer fax scanner and copier work off a usb cable. There are no other inputs to plug a conventional cable. Mind you bill I am not very skilled in the computer language. On the shipping box of the all in one it does specify to use a usb cable. As far as installing the software for the all in one thank you for your kind words. I am kind of hesitant in trying what you mentioned becasue i am afraid of screwing up the whole computor and the programmes. Can this happen.
