Was a USB cable supplied with this unit? I know that these multifunctions need an excellent cable. Don't go cheap.

I'm starting to think that the unit is defective. Tell ya what...why don't you hop down to your local Best Buy or CompUSA and pick up a USB adapter card? Get a SIIG if they have one. They work. Bring it home and try it out. Install it in the 2nd PCI slot and fire it up. Try the unit on it. You can return it if the unit fails.

: Well, I tried to do what you said to do but to no avail. I removed all of the duplicate files in the device manager in safe mode as well as the USB Root hub and the usb host controller. then I uninstalled the HP sofeware rebooted the computer reinstalled the sofeware but it still would not work.
