Try the Safe Mode Cleanup:

I assume that this is a VIA motherboard. If so, go here:

Bill
: I am running windows 98se, Gygabit MOBO, AMD 850 T-Bird, WD 40GB HD, GF2MX 32MB, SBLive Value. I have 2 intergrated USB ports. I had a Gravix Exterminator Digital gamepad and a HP 3300c scanjet scanner connected to these two ports. One day I went to use the gamepad and it was not detected by my system after months of trouble free use. I thought my controller had bit the dust, until I went to use my scanner and received an error message stating "Cannot find your scanner." I have other USB devices so right away I tried those. POOF right away Windows sent a message saying new hardware was detected, installing drivers. I have reinstalled software for both the scanner and the gamepad to no prevail. I have also removed all VID keys in the registry editor. This caused new hardware to be detected but I could not get the scanner or the gamepad to recognized. I have tried both manufacturers websited to no prevail. Please help if you can. Thank you so much, Scott
