Update your BIOS first. Leave the ports enabled and boot from the XP CD. Select Setup > F8 > Install > *Repair*. Don't choose Recovery Console!

: Hello all!
: I just installed windows xp on a computer with an FIC Via chipset motherboard. Everything went pretty well... then came the turning on of the USB ports on the board from the BIOS. After I did that and booted the saved changes up... and got to the screen with the login names and clicked on one of he names... there it happened.. it froze... I did that a couple of times and finally went back into the bios and disabled the USB and then rebooted... logged in without any trouble... Any suggestions? A USB problem? or? Thanks in advance!
