: i have recently reinstalled windows xp and now my printer and scanner don't work. i have done all the troubleshooter checks and i don't think my ports are recognised. i am new to computers and someone has told me i need a usb filter. i tried phoning the helpdesk for the company i bought it from and they were useless so ithought i would try else where. they did however mention a usb filter as well and amd southbridge 761 but this doesn't mean anything to me.
