No...Windows must see it as a Com port in order to use it.

My advice would be to return it for one of these:

Serial modems are leagues better than USB. USB modems are resource hogs and rarely get connections as good as "full hardware" modem. USB modems are also subjetc to USB bus oddness. USB is nowhere as stable as serial either.
