Oh I see
But is there a special way, when I reinstall XP from scratch to have the USB using another IRQ than the one used by the video ?
I though even the MSI bios makes the USB share the AGP IRQ, XP could force the USB using another free IRQ.
And since by default XP set the computer in the ACPI mode (all devices sharing the same IRQ) how could I then force the system to have one device per IRQ please ?
: Cyril, we do not recommend changing the PC "HAL" in XP - only Windows 2000. I would recommend reinstalling XP (not repairing!) with all USB devices unplugged.
: : Oh thank you!
: : But doesn't it yield problems ? I believed that sharing the usb irq causes problems. I also disabled the ACPI both in the bios and under XP (I switched to 'standard PC').Am I right please ?
: : And could you explain the meaning of the 3 checkboxes in the IRQ sharing policy under XP ? You know these are the options you get when you select the 'standard PC' in the 'computer' tab in the hardware list.
: : thanks

: : : Unfortunately MSI didn't document the pci irq. It looks like that AGP and USB using the same irq and there is no way to change this.
: : : Check your bios version, if you got an older version (<3.2), update it. There was a problem with ACPI and WinXP.

: : : : Hi
: : : : Before even configuring windows XP (put in 'standard PC' mode with whatever IRQ policy) I notice that both USB controllers SHARE in the BIOS the same IRQ as the AGP GeforceDDR
: : : : It means that even before entering windows I already have an IRQ conflict I don't knwo how to solve.
: : : : I put the IRQ attribution to 'auto'.
: : : : The USB (other devices) works but I would prefer using another free IRQ (I freed COM1 and parallel port just for that but these IRQ are still unused). The bios prefers sharing the AGP IRQ rather than using a free IRQ!!
: : : : Is there a way to force in the BIOS the USB IRQ ?
: : : : Whatever IRQ I choose for the AGP card it will be the same for the USB controllers!
: : : : Thanks a lot
