: i am running win98se on a amd1400 on a msi/nvidia chipset board and i am using 4 PCI cards ( high end audio cards )

: when my system is running hard on the edge my usb mouse is slowing down in "reaction speed"

: i have no irq conflicts or so, everything is working fine, but it seems that the usb mouse is the first piece that suffers from system usage.
: does anybody know this problem ? any help how to give the usb port more "importance " ?????

: the nvidia chipset should treat pci and usb independent ????!!!!???

The USB host controller is a PCI device so all data is channeled through the PCI bus.
I would assume that the drivers for the audio cards eat up CPU power. On driver level there is no real time sharing. It may be that the USB drivers simply do not get enough CPU power.
No real advice to give. It all depends on the drivers.
