Some motherboard have defective 2nd ports. Otherwise, they are equal *unless* you put a demanding device in the second port. In that case, it may shut down *both* ports.

: I came across some postings which recommended users to try and plug their - in this case: camera - into the other USB "port" (1/2) when they experience connection problems. That leads me to the question: Does it REALLY matter in which of the two ports I plug my USB device ? Would you reckon that it works in one port, while it doesn't work in the other one (given the case that there is no physical damage to the HW) ?
