Subject:   Adding USB cable to my motherboard

Message Posted

Hello,

I just purchased a 2x5 pin USB A-A Dual Female w/brackett for my computer.

My motherboard pin numbers are:
#1 VCC
#2 Key
#3 Data -
#4 Data +
#5 Gnd

The wires on the USB cables are:

#1 (Red) VCC
#2 (White) Data -
#3 (Green) Data +
#4 (Black) Gnd
#5 (Black) Sgnd (thicke wrapped wire)

I have read on the internet that I should move the wires to match my pin numbers. Is this correct? If so, is it easily done without harming anything? Which wire do I put in the key slot?
If not, What should I do?
My mother board is a Titanium 1B pentium P51430TX OS Win98se
Thankyou so much for any help you can give me......

Tammy D.
