Try another slot. Switch places with the modem (which is usually set too high - the higher slots should be reserved for high-bandwidth cards like IDE, network cards, USB 2.0 and SCSI cards).

: I just bought a Belkin USB 2.0 card, and my system won't even recognize it's there. The hardware and software all support USB but it doesn't even recognize that I added a new card.
