I've seen this before on a Win2K system. Iomegaware was behind it. It's basically bad software. It may be the HP software and it may be something that was there already and the HP doesn't get along with it.
If you have Iomegaware, uninstall or update it. If not, I would switch to an Epson or Canon.
: WIN XP HOME - "INTEL 8280 IBA/BAM USB UNIVERSAL HOST CONTROLLER -2444" -INSTALLED HP PHOTOSMART 7350 PRINTER - ALL OK UNTIL I HIT THE POWER BUTTON TO TURN IT OFF -BSOD & MEMORY DUMP W/ ABOVE MESSAGE - INSTALLED W/ NO OTHER PROGRAMS RUNNING - PLENTY OF SYS RESOURCES - I UNINSTALLED & REINSTALLED -THIS TIME WIN XP CRASHED W/ SAME BSOD WHEN I PLUGGED IN USB CABLE AS PROMPTED BY HP SOFTWARE - TRIED AGAIN W/ SAME RESULT - HP SUPPORT WAS NO HELP - I USED "GO BACK" BY ROXIO (WHICH WAS TURNED OFF DURING INSTALLATION) TO REVERT TO THE POINT WHERE THE PRINTER WORKED FINE- UNTIL I HIT THE POWER BUTTON TO TURN IT OFF - I BOUGHT THIS PRINTER NEW FOR $116 @ BEST BUY w/ REBATES & A VERY FRIENDLY SALESWOMAN & DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO RETURN IT - ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED - THANKS IN ADVANCE - MY SYSTEM -PENTIUM3 800 - 384MB RAM (MEMORY DUMP SHOWS APPROX 200MB FREE BEFORE CRASH)-GEFORCE4TI4200 - SOUNDBLASTER AUDIGY GAMER- THANKS AGAIN
