Subject:   video problems on usb camera, windows 98 on thinkpad

Hi,

I've got a philips Toucam Pro 740K usb camera. I'm trying to install it on a thinkpad i series 1400 (2611-412), under Windows 98 (Not SE). Camera works fine on desktop system running Windows 98, but not on laptop.

Symptoms are, on installation get a single still image - not video, and from then on when I try to use the video, I get a green or black screen, where the video should be.

I've checked Bios settings (USB enabled), reinstalled webcam loads of times. I've got an 'ALi PCI to USB Open Host Controller', which is gives the device status - working properly. When I use Microsoft System Information - its on IRQ 10, along with IRQ Holder for PCI Steering - nothing else uses IRQ 10.

Philips say I should update the mainboard chipset drivers, but I am unsure where to get them, or how to go about this. I've done other things that Philips have suggested - turn off video card acceleration, checked Control Panel/Multimedia/Devices/VideoCaptureDevices - its got Microsot WDM Image Capture, set as video capture device.

Apologies for the length of post, but wanted to pass on as much key information as possible. (I was hoping to get this working before Christmas 2002!).

Many thanks for any help / direction,

Meg
