: Hello, Currently in my device manager the usb chipset is showing as "Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller" I know this can be a problem as it is similar to using generic drivers to for any other device. Problem is, I'm not sure of the manufacturer of the chipset, or how I can figure it out. It's a Gateway Solo 1450 Laptop.

The standard driver is fine. There are only two interfaces USB controllers offer. UHCI (Intel) and OHCI (everyone else). So there are only two standard drivers for the USB host controller.
Your problem is obvioulsly the sharing of IRQ 10. There are several devices on it which are usually problematic.
