The Stratitec cables from Sam's are excellent - no sweat there.

That may not be the problem though. Are you prompted for the drivers or not? Does the system sense any change at all when you plug in?

: Do I have to buy the expensive USB cable ($25-30) or will the inexpensive (Strategic 2-pk for about 7 bucks at Sam's) for a Lexmark X73 all in one?

: I presently have a Compaq 7470 w/W98SE and a VIA controller. When I plug in the USB cable (front and back ports) during the install process when prompted nothing happens.

: I have a new DELL Dimension 2350 on order and should arrive in a few days. Will the cheap cord work?
