Believe me, you have my donation if this can be fixed:

This is a Samsung A500 Sprint PCS phone, using the SprintPCS Vision Connection (made by FutureDial).

I'm connecting to a Toshiba Portege 3020CT (that does not have the NEC USB root hub problem) and, though it is running Windows 2000 now, the exact same problem happened when it was running Windows 98.

I upgraded to the latest bios version available too, which was released in mid 2001. The problem was identical in the 7.80 bios and the current 8.10 bios. No change.

The problem is simple: Plugging the phone, via its cable, into the computer, freezes it up after the phone is connected for a while. (Connect to the internet through the computer.)

My old phone worked fine for this purpose.

Now, though, this phone freezes it and the mouse pointer won't even move. It locks solid. I have to power it off and on again.

And, again, had this problem when it was running Windows 98, and just upgraded to 2000.

There are no upgraded drivers for this phone - these are the only ones.

The devices are enumerated in the device manager as "Samsung Composite USB device", and "Samsung CDMA modem".

I've used MANY usb devices on this laptop with no problem..

ANY idea here?
