I have DirectX 8.1 installed and the latest BIOS. The problem is that Intel doesn't keep updating BIOS of older motherboards so the one I have, which dates a few years back, is the latest.
Since all the other USB devices I have work fine, I tend to blame it on Microsoft, which it's hardware is not compatible with it's own OS. Oh well.

Thanks anyway!

: THis is just the sort of situation that prompted Dante to write the Inferno.
: The best I can offer is to update the motherboards BIOS, and update DirectX.

: : Hi,

: : I have a Microsoft SideWinder Presicion 2 USB joystick connected to a SE440BX Intel motherboard computer running Win2K. If I shut down my computer and turn it on again, the joystick is usualy not immediatly detected. Disconnecting it and immediatly re-connecting doesn't help. It would only get detected if I disconnect the joystick, let it "rest" for a few hours and then plug it in again. I have all the latest drivers for the motherboard and SP3 for Win2K.
: : There is no Sidewinder driver for Win2K (plus, this problem also appears on WinXP).
: : The problem is only with the joystick since a printer, a scanner and a digital camera I have are connected to the USB and works fine, they are always detected.

: : Any idea what causes the lost connection to the joystick on power off-on?
