USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 cables are identical in appearance. The difference is that Certified USB 2.0 cables meet or exceed the wiring, shielding and connectivity specification for device cables as mandated by the USB-IF (the parent company of USB). Improper cabling is a leading cause of USB 2.0 device failure. Certified USB 2.0 cables work with all USB devices. Although, some high quality USB 1.1 cables will work with USB 2.0 devices, I recommend that you purchase a Certified USB 2.0 cable for use with a USB 2.0 device.

: : Can I still use my usb 1 cables on usb 2 ports and have the full use of that port?
: Only if you are using a USB 1.1 device. Otherwise, you'll be coming back and asking why your USB 2.0 device isn't working right.
