I currently use the PC parallel port to control custom external hardware using VB5 on W98 boxes. Would like to evolve the design away from the parallel port as far as the PC end of things go, as it appears that newer PCs will not have parallel ports. I see that there are numerous USB to Parallel port adapters but I am not aware of any that offer drivers and examples so that I can easily “talk” to the device from VB, as they all seem to be setup for “printer” duty only. I am aware of the FTDI parts and could build my own and use their well documented designs (hardware and software), but it seems that for my small needs (only about 10-20 units), this would not be cost effective. Can anyone suggest a USB to parallel converter that comes along with VB compatiable drivers and good documentation? Thanks,
