Lexmark makes some really bad drivers, true. Are you using a USB hub or the native USB port(s)? Bill : I have a Toshiba Sattelite laptop running Windows 98 with an Intel chipset and Intel USB controller. When I bought my Sony camcorder a year ago and there were no problems connecting to the PC. Then I bought a Lexmark USB printer 2 months ago. While I haven't connected the camcorder to the PC in the last 2 months I have since bought a Sony camera DSC-S85. When I tried to connect to the PC I got a Removeable Drive E Formatting error on both the camera and camcorder. Sony, of course, blamed Lexmark for incompatible drivers. Anyway, when I disconnected all USB devices from the computer except the camera I was able to make the connection. Unfortuneatly, I decided to call Sony to give them the fix and while doing so the battery on the camera went out while trying to download a picture (wasn't plugged in to the outlet at the time). This caused an exception error on the PC and I had to reboot. When all was said and done, I'm getting the format error again no matter if all other USB devices are disconnected or not. Sony still says it is Lexmark and says the fact that I got it to work once was a quirk and should never be counted on - they say I must uninstall Lexmark printer and not use it while connecting camera to PC. Floppy accessory for memory stick is a workaround but slow. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!
